Learning environments influence how children engage with academic learning at school. In this workshop, we will review the continuum of play and the importance of outdoor play for introducing, consolidating, and practicing foundational literacy skills. We will discuss the role of the teacher when designing outdoor literacy routines that are engaging, motivating, and responsive to screening and assessment data.
Beyond the early years, we can also consider how school-yards and gardens are perfect spaces and places for inclusive and creative storytelling, vocabulary development, non-fiction writing, fine motor skill development and more!
All literacy outdoors sessions can be customized to the be responsive to your screening and assessment data.
